Club Olympia’s Brady Beyer swam in his last meet as a 14 year old at the 2020 Boilermaker Aquatics Gold Fever Invitational in West Lafayette and won the Men’s Open 100-yard breaststroke, 200 breaststroke and 200 freestyle.

Beyer, a freshman at Columbus East, currently is ranked fourth in the nation in the 13-14 200 breaststroke, 22nd in the 400 individual medley and 27th in the 100 breaststroke. He also is 11th in the nation and first in Indiana in the IMX, a combined score of power points from the 500 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 200 IM and 400 IM.

Club Olympia takes ninth

Club Olympia, with just 22 swimmers, finished ninth overall, the second team from Indiana behind the host team, Carmel Swim Club, at the 2020 CSC Winter Invitational at IUPUI’s Indiana University Natatorium.

Beyer led the way, finishing with 118 points to place second in high point among the 13-14-year-old boys. He won the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke and finished second in the 200 IM, 400 IM and 500 free; third in the 200 freestyle and eighth in the 100 butterfly.

Misha Machavariani scored 97.5 points in the 11-12 boys age group, placing third in the 100 breaststroke and 500 freestyle, sixth in the 50 butterfly and 100 butterfly, seventh in the 50 breaststroke and 200 IM, eighth in the 200 freestyle and 12th in the 50 backstroke.

Nalanie Cortez had the most points for the girls, finishing with 82 by placing third in the 200 butterfly, fifth in the 100 freestyle, sixth in the 200 freestyle, seventh in the 500 freestyle, eighth in the 400 IM, 10th in the 50 freestyle, 11th in the 100 Butterfly and 14th in the 200 IM.

Connelly Furnish scored 64 points in the 10-and-under girls competition, placing fifth in the 50 breaststroke, 100 breaststroke and 200 IM, sixth in the 200 freestyle, 10th in the 100 freestyle and 15th in the 50 freestyle. Furnish also teamed with Grier Lane, Sanaa Kulkarni and Advika Badve to finish seventh in the 10U Girls 200 freestyle relay and with Badve, Kulkarni and Lovely Panda to also place seventh in the 200 medley relay.

Rachel Sabotin finished with 49 points in the Girls Open, placing second in the 200 butterfly, fourth in the 200 IM, sixth in the 400 IM and 13th in the 100 butterfly.

Evan Patterson scored 35 points in the Boys Open events by placing sixth in the 100 freestyle, ninth in the 100 Butterfly, 10th in the 100 breaststroke and 11th in the 50 freestyle.

Joshua Pendleton, competing on one day, finished with 13 points in the 10U boys division by placing 11th in the 200 IM, 12th in the 50 backstroke and 15th in the 100 freestyle.

Todd Hundley scored 10 points in the 11-12 boys age group by placing 12th in the 50 freestyle, 13th in the 500 freestyle and 16th in the 100 backstroke.

Ashley Freel finished with nine points in the Girls 13-14 division by placing 11th in the 200 butterfly, 15th in the 200 freestyle and 16th in the 400 IM.

Advika Badve scored seven points in the Girls 10U competition by placing 10th in the 50 backstroke.
