Several swimmers from Club Olympia Swim Club competed in last weekend’s Indiana Senior Short Course Championships at Pike High School.

Club Olympia’s Rachel Sabotin finished third in the 500-yard freestyle, fifth in the 200 individual medley, seventh in the 1,600 freestyle, eighth in the 400 IM and 1,000 freestyle and 16th in the 200 butterfly to take seventh in the girls high-point standings.

Twelve-year-old Nalanie Cortez, the youngest competitor in the meet, finished 20th in the girls 100 freestyle, 22nd in the 200 freestyle, 26th in the 50 freestyle and 27th in the 500 freestyle. Her times rank 12th in the nation for the 100 freestyle, 16th for the 50 freestyle and 19th in for the 200 freestyle for 12-year-old girls.

Erica Samuel placed 27th in the girls 1,650 freestyle, 32nd in the 500 freestyle and 31st in the 1,000 freestyle. Ayush Panda and Matt Stuckwisch also competed in the boys Senior State Championships for the first time.
